Trash Talk Number One

Okay so our sales are over...now what....well first thank you to all who came out whether you purchased an item or not.  We hope you found the item you have been searching for, and if not there is always next week. So Thank You all for coming out.
Now you may wonder what happens after a sale to all the leftover items.  Well they are either donated or thrown out depending on the family's wishes.
I am calling these segments trash talk because they are items that are left after every sale and even charities have a hard time getting rid of them.  These are items that are random and we all have them already and if we don't have them we feel we don't need them.  We want to change that....we are going to take items that are left and show you how to use them in a new and different way.  Then when you see the items at a sale you will need them to complete these projects.  Thus less items in our already over crowded landfills.  Some will be big projects and others just some small ideas.  We are going to start small.
From this last sale at Port Royale we had some dishes miss matched, used candles, some buttons, and a half container of salt (sorry didn't photograph salt or buttons but you know what they look like).  So lets view them before....

just a dinner plate, but could be a fancy plate, saucer, a platter or even a scratched plate.
The candles very unattractive, but it just needs to be washed and gathered with others.
So here is our first transformation....
better already and if the plate were small it would look great but it does need something...
here we added the salt...better already.  You could even color the sale with a little food coloring....
often at sales.  Or we had some rocks from another project we added....

how cute is that....we sell the rocks at sales or even the glass marbles would be great.
now for the buttons...
it does need more buttons, but this what was left at this sale...so save up buttons and add more as you get them....you could use mixed colors or all one color.  A plate and three candles at a store new would easily cost $25.00 conservatively, but this could be yours for less than $2.00 if bought on half price day or just add it to the bag on $5.00 fill a bag and you would get a whole more for your five bucks.  We just washed the candles and plate and added decorative pieces and it looks like you bought it all new.  No one would know the candles were pre burnt by someone else once you light them.
Here it is...
Now that is a great center piece.  Just think outside the box...at Christmas you could add those mini ball ornaments, at Easter some jelly beans, M&M's anytime (but green for St Patrick's, red for Valentine's day...)    you could add beans on an old kitchen plate, sand in a beach theme bathroom, beads for a bedroom, dirt in an old saucer for outside on the patio.  The ideas are endless.  Maybe you only want one candle, cool just get a smaller plate.  Want to make a big Thanksgiving center piece...get a platter, add gourds and leaves and it will look like you got it at florist.  So next time you see a dirty pre burnt candle and a plate at a sale, remember the possibilities.
Until next time....
